Trust In Love – James Gallagher

Stillness

Bright, smooth and windless
the morning revealed the blanket
that seamlessly enveloped the visible world.
Driven by the sunshine, weighted by their wetness
fluffy chunks plummet and cascade through the branches.
initiating crystalline showers which pock mark the world.
A single breeze would clear them.
A pair of amorous squirrels could wreak an avalanche
upon the precarious outstretched arms.
Only the thinnest fingers of the trees stir.
Only the knobby tips begin to bob and shed the warming burden
at random and silently topple the clumps of winter’s unexpected gift,
sparkling and fluttering- stirring the stillness.
