Early on it was felt that only
prayer and good deeds would
soothe the soul.

Of late, it seems,
there is always some price.

The fact that time is the
cathartic catalytic conveyance
surprises and convinces
no one.

Whereas though the sanctity of
spirit stirs
and the discrepancies of justice
wound the very fiber of our reason
I take upon myself
certain responsibilities
to resurrect and infuse
solemn attention to detail
so as to never retreat,
never renege
never surrender
that essence of myself
which still weeps
still worries
for the smallest
and the weakest
and the forlorn.
